Apresoline injections are designed for the treatment of hypertensive crisis. Such emergencies are observed during the midst of a surgical procedure and cases of severe preeclampsia when the blood pressure shoots up to dangerous levels. The drug brings about this effect by dilating or widening the constricted blood vessels connecting the heart with the entire body system. This effect results into significant reductions in the blood pressure by encouraging its healthy flow through the body. The drug has also been recognized to enhance the efficiency of the heart by diluting excessive or mounted work pressure over the organ. The drug is only recommended for treating extreme hypertension only among adults. However, people taking to this drug may experience some immediate side effects in the form of dizziness, drowsiness, heart palpitations, vomiting, flashing, nausea, light-headedness, headaches, muscle aches, joint aches. At uncommon times the dosage of the drug may lead to extreme low blood pressure, jaundice, extreme agitation. Ideally, the injection is administered with an extremely low concentration of the drug. The patient is then kept under observation for 20-30 minutes before the administration of another dosage, if required. The drug is not recommended for use among patients of kidney disorder, liver disorder, heart diseases and other severe medical ailments. |
