The chemical name of Atorvastatin calcium is [R-(R*, R*)]­2-(4-fluorophenyl)-ß, d-dihydroxy-5-(1-methylethyl)-3-phenyl-4-[(phenylamino)carbonyl]­1H-pyrrole-1-heptanoic acid, calcium salt (2:1) trihydrate and its empirical formula gets stated as: (C33H34 FN2O5)2Ca•3H2O. Besides the active ingredients, each tablet of Caduet also contains inactive ingredients and stabilizers like calcium carbonate, pregelatinized starch, polysorbate 80, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, croscarmellose sodium, coloring agents and purified water. Amlodipine besylate is a calcium channel blocker whereas atorvastatin calcium is a synthetic lipid reducing agent.
